Stonefield House School, an accredited member of ISA, is situated in a pleasant, leafy cul-de-sac in the heart of uphill Lincoln. The premises comprise of a large Victorian house with a converted stable block. There is a generous play area in the school grounds; ample sports facilities are hired locally and pupils have easy walking access to open playing fields.
Stonefield educates boys and girls from age 3 to 16. We have built up an excellent reputation as a small school with good discipline and a 'family' atmosphere; we particularly specialise in boosting the confidence and standards of the unassuming or sensitive child who can so easily be overlooked in a larger, more impersonal environment.
Throughout the school academic progress is achieved by individual attention in small classes. Exam results are impressive. Over the eight years we have offered GCSE, the vast majority have achieved 5 or more GCSE grades A (or A*) to C. While there have been a number of pupils with 9 straight A's, several others have achieved B's and C's which would have been unthinkable in a larger environment. All results are achieved through the hard work and dedication of pupils and staff working closely together. Similarly, the sound foundation laid by the Infant and Junior Departments ensures an almost 100% success rate for those sitting the 11+ exam for entrance to Grammar schools.
Confidence is built not only in the classroom: traditional team sports are played against other schools while tennis and basketball are popular as extra-curricular activities. Furthermore much attention is given to music, art, drama and a variety of other activities, often including school trips.
The school is founded on the basic principles of tolerance and respect for the value of others; we warmly welcome adherents of all religions.
Much refurbishment and upgrading of facilities has been carried out in recent months - notably for Information Technology. More projects are in line for completion, and much is done by volunteer parents or with money raised by a very active PTA.
The Board of Directors consists mostly of current or past parents at the school, and thus keeps the immediate interests of the pupils firmly at the front of its agenda.
